Power Flush

Power flushing will greatly benefit your central heating system if it has been installed for several years.

A power flush is a way to clean the inside of your heating system to help make it run more efficiently, heat your home more effectively and extend the life of your boiler.

Water will flow easier around the pipe work and through the radiators, putting less strain on your heating system pump and circulating heat faster around your home.

Then you need a power flush!

Sludge removed from a heating system during a power flush

You don't have to wait for there to be a problem with your heating system before getting it power flushed, if it hasn't be done for about 5 years, it's a good idea to get it done again to help keep your system clear, after all prevention is better than cure.

Once you've had your heating system power flushed you may want to consider having a magnetic sludge filter fitted to help maintain the cleanliness of your system. You can find more out about these here.

Do I need a power flush?

Some signs you need a power flush are:

  • Radiators cool to the touch

  • Cold bottom sections of radiators

  • Rooms not reaching their set temperature

  • Your boiler is noisier than it should be or banging

  • Rising gas usage through the winter

Before a power flush

Radiators are cold at the bottom due to a build up of 'sludge' preventing the water from flowing freely around the entire radiator.

After a power flush

Radiators are free from 'sludge' build up which allows water to flow freely around the whole radiator, producing more heat, warming up your home more efficiently.

Power flush info

The flow of water around your heating system can be restricted due to a build up of sludge, rust or limescale. A power flush will solve this issue.

With this building up it will put strain on other parts of your heating system such as the pump, radiator valves and boiler.

By getting these problems flushed out by one of our professional engineers a lot of these issues will be solved.

This helps the boiler to run more efficiently and last longer, saving you expansive repair bills.

We would recommend having your heating system Power Flushed about every 5 years, to keep your heating system maintained on the inside, helping to prevent costly and annoying breakdowns.

How long does a power flush take?

A power flush can be a lengthy process, but the results will be worth the wait.

It could take between 5 - 10 hours, depending on various factors such as:

  • The number of radiators you have

  • How old your current boiler and central heating system is

  • The amount of 'sludge' build up in your pipe work and system
